My house does not have a good space for an oil painting studio, much less one that will accommodate seven five-foot tall canvases covered in wet paint. So, for better or worse, I’ve taken to my uninsulated garage to work.


I actually like the confronting quality of it; I have to literally gear up to paint! It gets me into a good place of invigorated focus. I work with the door at least partially open so I also get to connect with interested passersby and neighbors. If I need to run inside to warm my fingers and toes up, there is still plenty of work and multitasking to do.


Here’s a little tour of my setup:
