about
me

Claire Connolly is a figurative artist who creates in the spirit of exchange, to express her relationship with anti-patriarchal experiences. She uses art as a living language—one that can complicate our prevailing order, which exclusively values progress, triumph and fixed ideals. After childbearing precipitated a personal crisis, she became inspired to spend her life exalting the deep mysteries that surround stagnation, defeat and the inevitable chaos of existence. She interweaves oil, gouache or mural paintings with graphic t-shirts. She collaborates with organizations and citizens in her community. Such practices invite her audiences and subjects to ‘speak art’ with her, towards a murkier, richer, truer reality.

This project is made possible by generous grants:

Arts Services Inc.’s Creative Impact Fund (a New York State Senate Initiative supported by the NYS Legislature and the Office of the Governor, and administered by the New York State Council of the Arts)

University at Buffalo’s Communities of Care Grant (a community-engaged study of healthcare centering historically marginalized voices, and supported by the Mellon Foundation)
