It's Like A Poured a Coconut: Jocelyn Tejeda (Kid and baby sizes)
Original artwork created through collaboration with a real local childbearer. Give a child in your life this shirt, and connect them with the wisdom Jocelyn has gained. Connect with the wisdom Jocelyn has gained by wearing this shirt yourself. A halved coconut pouring water, Jocelyn's symbol for the human adventure of having a child, refers to her Afro-Carribean, Dominican heritage. It mirrors the beautiful white circle of the moon and expresses how the act of nurturing can empty one out, yet can somehow mean gaining a beautiful cyclical power of growth and new love.
*THIS IS FOR EVERYONE!* Just as the archetypal warrior hero inspires us all to strive and persevere, the archetypal childbearer can provide solidarity to all who face the murky and bewildering side of life.
These t-shirts are part of a larger art project anchored in large oil portraits of each childbearer alongside their symbol. It will be celebrated at Fitz Books with an opening party and a month-long exhibit through June, 2025.
